Description
Blythe Meadow is a former farmhouse dating from the mid to later 18th century. It has undergone alterations and features large recent extensions to the rear. The building is constructed of handmade brown brick in Flemish bond, with the sides and rear rendered, and has a stone slate roof. It has a double-depth, double-fronted plan and stands two storeys high with attics. The façade is symmetrical with two windows, and the doorway is framed by a pedimented architrave with flat pilasters and a pulvinated frieze. The windows have raised sills and wedge lintels with pseudo voussoirs, although the glazing has been altered. The gable chimneys have been cut down. Inside, there is a narrow entrance hall featuring a semi-elliptical archway with a keystone and fielded panels. The dog-legged staircase has a closed string, stick balusters, and a ramped moulded handrail.
