Description
Bannister Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations and extensions likely made in the late 18th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and features a slate roof. The building has two storeys and a south front that includes two cross-wings. The left-hand wing projects further forward and appears to be the older section. This wing consists of one bay and has rebated and chamfered mullioned windows with hoods, featuring three lights on the ground floor and two lights above; some mullions have been removed. The recessed centre of the front shows signs of rebuilding and is two bays wide, with three-light rebated and chamfered mullioned windows on the ground floor and reconstructed two-light mullioned windows on the first floor. Between the bays, there is a door with plain reveals. The right-hand wing is also one bay and has windows with plain reveals. There are projecting stacks on the outside of the wings, with a chimney located to the right of the door. Additionally, a former stair turret projects from the left-hand wall of the left-hand wing.
