Description
This barn, located approximately 30 metres southeast of Old Lemon House, dates from the early 18th century. It features a stone plinth, quoins, and end walls, while the main structure is built of brick, which includes two rows of diamond-pattern ventilation holes. The roof, originally covered with stone slates, has been felted. The barn has a rectangular plan with five bays, where the fourth and fifth bays project forward. There is a wagon door in the third bay and a modern window beneath an old wooden lintel in the first bay. The gable walls are constructed of watershot masonry and topped with stone copings and kneelers. The right gable has three former doorways, now converted into windows, which feature stone jambs and undercut chamfered lintels, along with a circular pitching hole that is framed in stone and now glazed. The left end has later additions. Attached at a right angle to the southwest corner is a yard wall made of rubble with a rounded coping, which ends with a round-headed stone gatepost.
