Description

This sundial is located 3 metres south of the tower of the Church of St. Mary in Penwortham. It was made in 1815 by T. Pritt and features a stone base with a brass plate and gnomon. The base consists of two circular stone steps leading up to a square plinth, topped by an octagonal column with a circular moulded capital. The engraved plate on the inner ring reads "T. PRITT FECIT" with "1815" below, along with the names of churchwardens J. Pemberton, T. Holme, I. Cliff, and D. Moss. The gnomon is made of cast openwork.
