Description
The watchhouse, dated 1835, is located approximately 50 metres east of the Church of St. Leonard in Walton-le-Dale. It is constructed of dressed stone and features a roof made of corrugated metal sheet. The building is set into a slope, presenting two storeys to the road and one storey to the churchyard. The carriage door facing the road has an arched head made of gauged stones with a keystone, and there is a small window above it. The gable has coping and a chimney at the apex. The side wall is watershot, while the rear wall, which is single storey, includes a semicircular doorway with a keystone that is also dated 1835.
