Description
Well House is a house with a top floor loomshop, built in the late 18th century and now used as a residence. It features watershot coursed sandstone blocks with some quoins and a stone slate roof, with a chimney located at the left gable. The building has a double depth, 2-bay plan and is set against a slope, presenting a 3-storey front and a 2-storey rear.
On the front lower ground floor, there are garage doors left of centre, a square window to the left, and coupled square windows to the right. The upper ground floor has two coupled square windows, while the top floor boasts a continuous 14-light workshop window with square mullions. Some of the lights are blocked (specifically the 1st, 2nd, 6th, and 7th), and casements have replaced the 8th to 10th and 12th to 14th lights. To the right, there is a single-storey flat-roofed addition that supports a lean-to conservatory.
The left return wall features a raised entrance to the upper ground floor, which is accessed by steps and a flying deck, along with one window at this level and another above. The rear of the house includes a door and one window, with two oblong windows positioned above.
