Description
This sundial, located approximately 5 metres from the southwest corner of the Church of St. Nicholas in Newchurch, is likely from the 18th century and features a plate dated 1760. It has a baluster-shaped sandstone pedestal topped with a large moulded cap. The sundial includes a restored brass plate and gnomon, along with a small memorial tab attached next to the plate, inscribed with the name F.H. Foster and the years 1923-1981.
