Description
A farmhouse, likely dating from the 16th century, was altered and is now divided into three dwellings. It is constructed from flat sandstone rubble with quoins, and has a stone slate roof with two chimneys on the ridge and one at the right gable, along with three skylights. The building has a three-bay plan with a through passage originally located to the right of the chimney stack where the second and third bays meet. The farmhouse is two storeys high. The original entrance, now a door to number 6, has a moulded Tudor-arched surround with a massive undercut lintel. Original recessed hollow-chamfered mullion windows are present in the housepart (number 4) and the third bay (number 6). To the left of the doorway is a two-light fire window and a large window with round-headed lights and hollow spandrels (four lights surviving, with one at the left end interrupted by an inserted glazed door). A similar four-light window is positioned to the right, both with hoodmoulds. The first floor has three square-headed three-light windows above the ground-floor windows. The first bay (number 2) has larger, later recessed hollow-chamfered mullion windows of four lights on each floor; the lower has a hoodmould broken by an inserted door to the left. This building demonstrates group value through its significant contribution to the area's architectural heritage.
