Description
The Commercial Hotel, which includes a stable block at the rear, is an early to mid 19th-century building located on Whalley Road. It stands three storeys tall and is constructed of roughcast stone with a stone slate roof featuring coped gable ends and kneelers. The hotel has three windows on the top floor that reach up to a moulded cornice, and two windows on the ground floor that consist of two lights each. The entrance is marked by a heavy Gibbsian rustication with a moulded cornice above, and it has a modern door set beneath a rectangular fanlight. The building also has a plinth. The property includes a two-storey stable block made of coursed stone at the rear. The hotel is part of a group that includes Nos 60 to 164 (even), with the exception of Nos 76 to 110, which are buildings of local interest only.
