Description
Higher Whitewell Farmhouse is a house built in the late 18th century. It is constructed from squared watershot sandstone and features a slate roof. The building has two storeys with attics and consists of three bays. The windows are framed with plain stone surrounds and square mullions, with most being three-light windows. There is a cross window on the first floor above the door, which has a projecting surround.
The door is accentuated by a surround with Tuscan pilasters, a projecting fluted false keystone, and a bracketed cornice. Gable stacks are present, with each gable featuring a two-light window on the ground floor and an attic window that has a plain stone surround and a semi-circular head with a keystone. The left-hand wall includes a three-light window on both floors of an outshut that covers part of the rear wall. The rear wall also has a stair window with a plain stone surround, mullions, and transoms.
