Description

This pair of gatepiers, likely built in the mid-19th century, is made of sandstone and is located approximately 60 metres north-west of the school in the garden of Downham Hall. They have a rectangular plan and feature bases, entablatures, and urns. On the east side, each gatepier has a pilaster with a central fielded panel, while on the west side, each has a pair of fluted pilasters topped with Corinthian capitals. These gatepiers were originally removed from the grounds of Cuerdale Hall.
