Description

The entrance doorway in the garden wall, located approximately 100 metres north of Dutton Manor, dates from 1662 and was formerly the entrance to Buckley Hall in Ribchester parish. It is constructed of sandstone and features a moulded surround with a triangular head. Above the lintel, there is a square stone carved with a unicorn, all enclosed by a stepped weathered coping. The lintel is inscribed in raised letters with the text: 'NEW BUCKLEY IS MY NAME, RIC SHERBVRNE BUILT THE SAME ANNO 1662, AGED 62'.
