Description

This sundial, located 5 metres southeast of the south porch of the Church of All Hallows, dates from 1683 and is made of sandstone. It has a square plan and is set into a square base. The lower half of the sundial is fluted, while the upper half tapers and features a moulded cap. Inscribed on the sides halfway up are the initials 'FD WD 1683 RG GR SIF'. The brass plate on the sundial is inscribed with the name 'John Greenwood Junior Aug 18th 1749'.
