Description
This is a group of three small town houses located at 9, 10, and 11 Spring Bank, dating from the mid to late 19th century and altered over time. The buildings are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with sandstone dressings and a slate roof. They have a double-depth plan, with Nos. 9 and 10 having adjoining halls, while No. 11 is situated on a wedge-shaped plot next to No. 12, featuring individual back extensions.
The houses are two storeys high with cellars and have a symmetrical arrangement of windows: 2+2+2. They feature a plain frieze and a moulded gutter cornice, with No. 11 canted back to the right of its door. Nos. 9 and 10 share coupled doorways framed by architraves, topped with a single moulded cornice supported by consoles and two shallow triangular upstands, and have altered doors with overlights. No. 11 has a matching doorway with a panelled door.
No. 9 has 12-pane unhorned sashed windows, while No. 11 features 16-pane unhorned sashes in the canted section to the right; however, all other windows have altered glazing. All windows have raised sills and wedge lintels, and there are ridge and gable chimneys. The rear and interior of the buildings were not inspected.
