Description
Nos. 9, 10, and 11 Latham Street are a row of three small townhouses built around 1840, constructed in three phases and altered over time. They are made of red brick in Flemish bond, with sandstone dressings and a slate roof. Each house has a double-depth plan, is single-fronted, and features a back extension, with Nos. 10 and 11 being coupled together. The buildings are two storeys high with cellars, displaying a window arrangement of three, two, and three across the front, separated by vertical joints, and featuring a continuous sill-band, frieze, and gutter cornice at the first floor.
The doorways for Nos. 10 and 11 are adjacent, while No. 9 is at the left end. All doorways have one step and are elliptical-headed, constructed with gauged brick voussoirs. Each doorway has a set-in doorcase with engaged Tuscan columns, topped with a cornice and a plain fanlight above. Additionally, No. 9 has a through-lobby doorway next to No. 10, featuring a convex stone surround and cornice, while No. 11 has a similar lobby doorway to the right, although with a simpler surround. The windows have raised sills and wedge lintels, but most have altered glazing. The rear and interior of the houses were not inspected.
