Description
This 18th-century sundial is located approximately 10 metres south of the Church of St. Mary in Goosnargh. It is made of sandstone and features a brass plate. The sundial has two circular steps, with the outer step consisting of six parts and the inner step made of two semi-circular slabs that are stapled together. The pedestal is vase-shaped and includes egg and dart decoration in the moulding of the cap. Although the plate is worn, it is believed to have been dated 1746 and bears the initials of Rev. C. Swainson. The gnomon is missing.
