Description

This garden urn is located approximately 25 meters northeast of the terrace steps on the upper terrace of Miller Park in Preston. It dates from around 1865 and features a sandstone ashlar pedestal topped with an imitation stone urn, which is now painted white. The pedestal measures about 0.5 meters square and 1.5 meters high, with a moulded base and cap, and panelled sides. The large chalice-shaped urn is adorned with relief decorations that include acanthus leaves, running vines, small figures, and ammonite handles. This urn is part of a set of six that line the upper terrace.
