Description

Edge End House is likely a mid-18th century house situated off Walverden Road in Nelson. It is constructed of rubble with a stone slate roof. The house is double pile and has two storeys and three symmetrical bays. It features flat-faced mullion and transom windows: three lights to the ground floor and two above. Architectural details include a plinth, rusticated quoins, kneelers, and a stone coping. A round-headed doorway is present with a triple keystone and a half-glazed door. Gable stacks are a distinctive feature. According to the Royal Commission for Historic Monuments (RCHM), the central entrance passage may be an alteration, and the staircase features turned balusters and a cut string.
