Description
Brierfield Methodist Church is a chapel built in 1861, as indicated by a dual date plaque on the gable, which is edged with laurel leaves. The church is constructed of ashlar stone and features a blue slate roof. Its symmetrical gable front is adorned with a dentilled pediment and quoins in relief. The lower portion of the building is rusticated and includes a semi-circular arch-headed window with a large, reticulated keystone on either side of two central doors that have semi-circular heads and decorated keystones. The doors are six-fielded panel doors topped with a fanlight. The façade is enhanced by three Tuscan pilasters, which are topped with a triglyph frieze and a dentilled cornice. There are four windows with segmental heads, each with a cornice supported by ornamented consoles, and all windows feature margin glazing. A plain frieze runs along the eaves.
