Description
The building is a watch house or bier house, dating from 1824, located in the churchyard of St Mary-le-Gill. It is constructed of rubble with shaped quoins and features a stone slate roof. The structure consists of two sections, with the later western end containing a dressed entry that has wooden linked double doors. Notable features include a pointed arched doorway in the eastern section and a plaque beside it that reads: "ERECTED A:D: MDCCCXXIV MORDAUNT BARNARD B A Incumbent) William Armistead) Wm H Edmondson) Churchwardens William Heap) Thomas Edmondson)."
