Description

Canal Bridge Number 157, located on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Greenberfield Locks, was built in 1817, coinciding with the construction of a new flight of locks. This public road bridge is made of ashlar and features a single elliptical arch adorned with rusticated voussoirs. The keystones of the arch extend into a band, above which is a solid coped parapet. The roadway slopes slightly down towards the north, and the curved abutments terminate in rusticated piers.
