Description
Lock number 42 on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal was built in 1817. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features wooden gates, with the upper pair having been restored in 1981. The lock has two retaining walls made of large punched blocks that curve outward at each end, and it includes ramped coping at the lower end.
