Description
This stone coffin, made of sandstone and dating from the medieval period, is located approximately 12 meters south of the Parish Church of St Peter in Heysham. It is roughly hewn and features a recess for the head carved out internally. The coffin was discovered during restoration work in 1864, when it contained a body and the remains of a chalice. The chalice is currently on display inside the church.
