Description
The barn and stables located south of Brookhouse Old Hall date from the 18th century, around 1800. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and has a slate roof. The main barn is attached to the rear wing of Brookhouse Old Hall at its northern end. To the south, a stable wing extends eastwards, featuring a gabled east wall.
The west wall of the main barn has a wide entrance with plain reveals and a segmental arch. To the left of this entrance are later additions, while to the right is the wider shippon end. The east wall of the barn also has a similar wide entrance. The gable of the projecting wing includes openings with plain stone surrounds. On the ground floor, there are two windows with a doorway between them. Above these are three circular pitching holes, with the outer ones being smaller and blocked. Under the apex of the gable is a lunette filled with pigeon holes, and the gable itself features coping with kneelers.
