Description

Storrs Hall is a large house dating from 1848, built on the site of an earlier building. It is constructed from sandstone rubble with a slate roof, and designed in a Domestic Gothic style. A prominent feature is the 4-storey embattled tower at the rear, with an octagonal corner turret.

The south facade is symmetrical, with two storeys, projecting gabled bays at each side, and a recessed two-bay central section containing a central attic dormer. The windows are mullioned and transomed, featuring flat heads, hoods, and Tudor arched heads to the lights. Ground floor windows in the outer bays have eight lights, first-floor windows six lights, and the central bays have four-light windows. Attic windows have two lights with mullions. The doorway is framed by a moulded surround with a Tudor-arched head. Architectural detail on the exterior is partially obscured by a creeper. Gables have copings and ball finials, and the numerous chimneys have octagonal shafts. The interior was inaccessible at the time of survey, but is reported to contain panelling originally from Robert Hall, in Tatham.
