Description
Block 2 of Moor Lane Mills North is a former cotton mill, now serving as a caretaker's block and student accommodation. It was built around 1880 for the Storey Brothers as part of their expansions to the Moor Lane Mills North complex and was converted in 1988. The building is constructed of squared coursed sandstone and features a slate roof. It stands three stories tall.
The south wall, which faces the road, has one window on the ground floor to the right of the central waggon entrance. On the first floor, there are two windows with three lights each, separated by stone mullions, while the second floor has three windows. The left-hand return wall, which faces downhill, has two bays on both the first and second floors, positioned above adjoining buildings. The right-hand return wall was rebuilt after demolitions in 1988. The rear wall features a central first-floor bay made of timber and glass, complete with an iron crane. Additionally, there is a disused iron fire escape located at the second and third floor levels to the right.
