Description
This is a mid-18th century farmhouse with an adjoining barn, located beside the B6254 road. The farmhouse is constructed of rubble stone with a slate roof. The original two-bay section has flush chamfered mullioned windows with cement-rendered lintels; the windows are mostly two-lights wide, except for a three-light window on the ground floor to the left. A third bay was added in the 19th century, featuring windows with plain reveals and modern sash windows. The farmhouse has end chimneys, with a third chimney to the right of the added bay. Inside, there are boxed axial main ceiling joists, and a re-set carved wooden panel dated 1638 is positioned over a doorway.
The barn projects forward to the right and is built of sandstone rubble with a stone slate roof. Much of its front wall is obscured by a later lean-to addition. The barn gables have copings with kneelers, and there are lean-to additions at the rear, incorporating a canopy over a wide barn entrance. The roof trusses inside the barn are supported by softwood tie beams.
