Description
Lane House and the adjoining barn to the southeast date from the mid-18th century. The house is built of watershot sandstone and features a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high with two bays. The windows have flat-faced mullions and consist of two lights, except for the left-hand window on the ground floor, which has three lights. The door, located between the bays, has a chamfered surround, and there is a crude drip course above the ground-floor window. The house has end chimneys, and the gable walls, barn, and rear wall display projecting throughs. Inside, the left-hand room features a shouldered stone fireplace. The barn, located to the right, has a window with cement reveals and a door with a plain stone surround. The rear wall of the house includes two re-used 17th-century windows. The barn has a wide entrance with a segmental arch and a pitching hole above, flanked by doors, with the right-hand door also featuring a chamfered surround.
