Description
Moorhead is a house built in 1741, constructed from sandstone rubble with a roof of tiles that imitate stone slates. It has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high with two bays. The windows, which consist of three lights, feature stone surrounds with a slight chamfer and flat-faced mullions. The ground floor windows have had their sills lowered, and the mullions have been restored using concrete.
The gabled porch, located between the bays, has a front made of two upright dressed stones that serve as door jambs, with a third triangular stone under the apex acting as the lintel. This lintel is carved with an oval plaque inscribed with 'IIM 1741'. The gables are topped with chimneys and copings that include kneelers. At the rear of the house, there are some re-used rebated and chamfered 17th-century window surrounds. Inside, there is a tunnel-vaulted cellar that includes a well.
