Description

Wennington Bridge is a bridge over the River Wenning, built in the early 19th century. It is constructed from furrowed sandstone ashlar, featuring rock-faced abutments. The bridge has three segmental arches, with the central arch being wider and supported by rounded cutwaters. There is a moulded band beneath a solid parapet with coping. The soffits of the arches display masons' marks. This bridge is likely the 'Wenning Bridge' for which the foundation stone was laid in 1822, as noted in A. Pearson's "Annals of Kirkby Lonsdale" published in 1930.
