Description
Sanders Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1709, as indicated by a plaque above the door. It is constructed of slobbered rubble with a slate roof and features a two-unit central-entry plan with gable stacks, rising to three storeys. The windows throughout the building are mullioned, with rebates and chamfers. On the ground floor, there are two four-light windows. The first floor has a four-light window on the left and a three-light window on the right, while the third floor contains three two-light windows. The front door has chamfered jambs and a plain lintel. Notably, a massive limestone boulder is built into the right-hand gable wall. The rear wall features a chamfered door surround and a tall stair window with small panes and plain reveals. There is a later 18th-century wing at the rear, which includes a partly blocked plain stone door surround in its south wall. The north wall has a plain stone surround for a fixed window with glazing bars, and the west gable wall has a flight of external stone steps leading to a doorway on the first floor. Inside, there are remains of a late 18th-century shouldered stone fireplace in the rear wing.
