Description
Borwick Hall Gatehouse is a Grade I listed structure dating from 1650, as indicated by the inscription 'R B R 1650' above the gateway. It is constructed of slobbered rubble with a stone slate roof. The ground floor features a wide, chamfered semi-elliptical arch, which is flanked by chimneys that are corbelled out at the first floor level with weathered offsets.
On the first floor, there is a central rebated and chamfered window with four lights, and a two-light window on each side of the chimney stacks. The gables are topped with copings and finials, with only the north-east finial still retaining its ball. The south-east wall mirrors this design, featuring a similar arch and two-light chamfered mullioned windows with hood moulds on either side. The first floor includes a two-light chamfered mullioned window to the left, a four-light rebated and chamfered reconstructed mullioned window above the arch, and a two-light rebated and chamfered mullioned window to the right. The north-east gable wall has a four-light rebated and chamfered mullioned window on the first floor and a two-light chamfered attic window.
