Description
Downy Field Farmhouse, possibly from the early to mid-19th century, features earlier remains. The building is constructed of rendered rubble and has a slate roof, standing two storeys tall. The south wall consists of three bays, with sashed windows that have plain stone surrounds or rendered reveals. The left-hand ground-floor window is modern and includes glazing bars. Above the central ground-floor window, which seems to be a blocked doorway, there is a re-set lintel inscribed with 'HP 1680' and a shield carved with three bells. A chimney is located to the right of the first bay. The barn adjoining to the east has a wide entrance with a segmental arch in its north wall, and features a gable with coping and a ball finial.
