Description

The aqueduct, known as No. 87, carries the Lancaster Canal, which was opened in 1797 and engineered by John Rennie, over the River Conder. It is constructed from punched sandstone blocks and features a single segmental arch with a straight string course above, flanked by piers. Above the arch, there is a battered retaining wall with a concave plan, and the piers extend to just below the top of a solid parapet that includes a string course.
