Description

Sydhall Cottage is a pair of small houses dating from approximately 1850 to 1860, with later alterations and extensions. The houses are built of painted stucco, likely over brickwork, and have slate roofs. They have a double-depth plan, each with a single-fronted appearance, side entrances, and various rear extensions. Each house has two storeys and originally two plus two windows. Each features two tall French windows sheltered by a wooden latticed verandah with a swept felted roof; the verandah at No.1 extends around the return wall. The first floor has two windows with altered glazing. The facade of No.2 is framed by pilasters and its windows feature Tudor-arched lights. The left return wall of No.2 has a round-headed doorway dating from the early 20th century.
