Description
The tomb of Edward and Dorothy King is located in the churchyard about 50 metres southeast of the porch of the Church of St. Michael. This early 19th-century tomb chest is made of sandstone and features clasping pilasters that support the lid. The pilasters are adorned with a fret pattern in low relief. The lid originally had a stone surround, of which only a pediment at the east end remains. According to the inscription, Edward King was the Vice Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, and it concludes with the words: "Reader, inquire no more but Go and do thy Duty." His widow passed away in 1816.
