Description
This is a terrace of five small town houses, likely built around 1850 to 1860. They are situated on Station Road, Lytham. The houses were altered at a later date. They are constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a slate roof. Each house has a double-depth plan and a single front, with entrance halls shared between pairs (except for number 18, which is centrally located). There are rear extensions arranged as a coupled pair, a single extension, and then another coupled pair.
The houses are two storeys high, with a symmetrical arrangement of two plus two plus two plus two plus two windows. Corner pilasters feature recessed panels, and a first-floor band runs along the façade. A decorative frieze incorporates brick dentils and prominent, straight brackets projecting from the eaves. The doorways are arranged in coupled, single, and coupled groupings, all with panelled pilastered wooden architraves and dentilled cornices, with overlights. The overlight at number 18 features a gilt monogram "AM". The sashed windows at numbers 16 and 22 retain their original glazing bars; however, the remaining windows have been altered. Gable chimneys and two ridge chimneys are present.
At the rear, the back yards of numbers 18, 20 and 22 are enclosed by high walls built from large cobblestones.
