Description
No. 76 on Preston Old Road is a house dated 1780, originally numbered 62. It is constructed of hand-made brick and features a tiled roof with gable chimneys. The building has a double-depth, two-bay plan and stands three storeys high with a symmetrical facade. The ground floor is rendered, and there is a central door set in a round-headed recess that has a keystone and imposts, which are inscribed with the letters M and 1780. There are two windows on each of the upper floors; the ground floor windows are large and square with nine panes, while the upper floor windows have gauged brick heads and six panes. The right side of the building has a narrow vertical rectangular window on the second floor. The rear of the house features segmental-headed windows on the ground and first floors, with nine panes on the ground floor and low three-light casements with glazing bars on the first floor, along with a stairlight in the center. The interior has a four-room plan with a central passage and staircase, although it has been altered.
