Description
Wilcocks Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1670, as indicated on the lintel of the door. It has been altered and extended in the 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble with quoins and features a tiled roof with two stone chimneys. It has a two-bay end-baffle-entry plan, with an added third bay to the right.
The farmhouse is two storeys high. On the right-hand end of the second bay, aligned with the ridge chimney, there is a doorway with a chamfered surround and a flat triangular head. The lintel above the door is lettered in relief. To the left of the doorway, there is a chamfered flush mullion window that was originally a five-light window from 1670 but is now missing the first and fourth mullions. The first bay contains a formerly two-light window that is now lacking its mullion, and between these windows is a small blocked round-headed window with a triangular lintel, which is said to have been a toll window. On the first floor, there are three horizontal rectangular three-light casements. The added bay to the right has a similar window on the first floor and an altered vertical rectangular window below it.
At the rear of the farmhouse, there are a two-light and a three-light mullion window on the ground floor; the first is blocked, while the second has one blocked light and the others have been altered to casements. The interior has been altered, except for a surviving heck wall in the housepart and a wattle-and-daub partition in the first bay, which is now concealed.
