Description
Johnson’s Farmhouse, dated 1684 and subsequently altered, is now a house. It is constructed of coursed rubble with a plinth, and has a concrete tiled roof. The building follows a long rectangular plan, incorporating a former barn (which has been altered) at the west end under the same roof. It is two storeys high. The south side, originally the front, has a casement window to the right-hand side at ground floor. To the right of that are two stone mullion windows with chamfered surrounds, of three and four lights respectively, both with hoodmoulds. A square datestone, lettered “I” in relief, is located above the final mullion window on the first floor, flanked by top-hung casements within what were formerly openings for sliding T.A. sash windows, dated 1684. Modern windows and a modern door are positioned on the left-hand side of this wall. The rear wall has been altered. The interior retains some contemporary beams and timber framing.
