Description
This former cowhouse, located approximately 30 metres west of Parr Hall, dates from the early 18th century and has been altered and extended in the 19th century. It is constructed of handmade brick set on a plinth of sandstone blocks and features a corrugated sheet roof. The building has a rectangular two-bay plan with an added third bay. A saw-tooth band is replicated on the third bay. On the east side, there are three segmental-headed doorways at ground level, with the centre and left doorways altered to serve as windows, and a blocked loading door above. The west side has three segmental-headed windows at ground level, with slit breathers above. Inside, the building features a principal rafter roof truss with angle struts.
