Description
Nos. 21 and 23 on Grape Lane are a pair of houses built in the early 19th century, though they have been altered over time. The buildings are constructed of brick, which is mostly covered by creeper, and feature a slate roof with two large ridge chimneys. They are double-depth with four bays and stand three storeys tall.
No. 21 has a gabled porch that includes a panelled outer door and a semi-circular fanlight. To the left, there are two 12-pane sash windows, three 12-pane sashes on the first floor, and two small sliding sashes on the second floor.
No. 23 features a round-headed doorway that now has glazed double-doors. To the right of this entrance, there is a large 12-pane window and two windows on the first floor, which are said to be segmental-headed, all with altered glazing that imitates sash windows. On the second floor, there are two small 4-pane casements. A lower continuation to the right is not included in this listing, and the rear of the buildings is of less interest.
