Description
St Peter's Church of England Infants and Junior School (East range) is a school built in 1828, which has been slightly extended and altered. It is constructed from watershot coursed sandstone blocks and has a slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan with chamfered corners at the east end and is designed in the Gothick style. It stands two storeys tall and features a seven-window north facade facing the churchyard, which likely originally had five windows with two added later. This facade includes mullioned two-light windows on both floors, each with two Tudor-arched lights and hood-moulds. The east end has a Tudor-arched three-light window at mid-level and an altered porch to the right. The rear of the building, facing Rawcliffe Street, has rectangular windows with raised sills, plain surrounds, and 20th-century joinery. At the west end, low additions create a link with the later West Range. The interior was not inspected. The school forms a group with the Church of St Peter.
