Description
The railings encircling the south and west sides of the Church of All Saints in Wigan date from the late 19th century. They are made of cast iron and stand on a sandstone plinth, designed in a Gothic style. The railings feature cusped arches adorned with bands of Tudor-rose ornament at the base and Tudor-rose cresting at the top. There are three pedestrian gateways: one opposite the porch, another opposite the priest-door to the chancel, and a third near the north end of the west return. Each gateway is flanked by square cast-iron posts topped with bishop's mitre finials. The railings are positioned approximately 2 to 4 meters from the church.
