Description

This is a late 18th or early 19th century house, situated alongside the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, near Shevington. The house is constructed of dressed stone with a concrete tile roof. It is two storeys high, with two bays, and has a gabled outshut to the right return, built with concrete, and a brick outshut to the rear. The windows have plain architraves and paired single-bar sashes. The front entrance features a plain architrave and overlight. The right return outshut is single-storied and has a one-light, two-light, one-light canted bay window with a hipped roof. A gable-end stack serves the chimney, and there are two ashlar rear lateral stacks, one of which is truncated. A garden wall, attached to the right return, curves around to the rear of the building. The Group Value context relates to its significance within the canal landscape.
