Description

The Royal Oak Hotel is a public house, likely built in the mid to late 18th century, with an early extension to the left. The building has been enlarged and altered over time. It features painted scored stucco, probably over brick, with a painted sandstone plinth and dressings, a slate roof, and brick chimneys. The structure has a rectangular double-depth plan, along with various 20th-century back extensions.

It stands three storeys high and has five windows arranged in a symmetrical pattern, except for the first bay. The right side of the doorway has a moulded plinth, while the left side has a chamfered plinth. The right-hand corner has rusticated quoins, and the left corner features cement quoining. The doorway, located between two pairs of windows, is framed by a doorcase with Tuscan semi-columns that support a 20th-century wooden pediment with modillions. All windows are 12-pane sashes, with the second-floor windows being shorter and square-paned. Each window has raised sills and distinctive divided triple keystones, with one in the centre and one at each corner. A large ridge chimney is offset to the left at the junction with the first bay, and there is a gable chimney to the right. The rear and interior of the building have been altered.
