Description
Home Farmhouse is a house dating from around 1692, with 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of roughcast brick with a slate roof, while the rear is exposed brick. The building is two storeys high and has three bays, along with a one-storey 20th-century extension at the sides. There is a first-floor sill band, and the windows are segmental-headed with chamfered jambs and soffits, featuring sashes with single glazing bars. The ground floor includes canted bay windows topped with hipped roofs. The entrance features a timber porch with decorative open framing and a hipped roof, leading to an elliptical-headed six-panel door. There are brick stacks at the gable ends. The rear of the house has segmental-headed windows with three-light casements. Inside, the property has chamfered beams and a bressumer above the fireplace, which contains a later brick fireplace. The staircase features a close string, square newels, and balusters shaped like columns on vases. The doors have fielded panels, with the central ones being smaller, and H-L hinges. The house also has exterior vertical shoring and horizontal tie rods due to mining subsidence.
