Description

The lychgate at the Church of Saint Martin was built in 1887 by George Truefitt for Sir Williams Cunliffe Brooks. It features a brick plinth and a timber frame topped with a clay tile roof. The structure has a square plan with a dogleg passage. Two sides are adorned with large semi-circular timber arches, while the other two sides are vertically studded. All sides have pierced roundel bands just below the eaves, and the roof is pyramidal in shape. The lychgate is completed with cast iron gates.
