Description

Brooks' Institute is a hall built in 1887, designed by George Truefitt for Sir William Cunliffe Brooks. The building features a brick plinth, decorative timber framing, and a clay tile roof. It has an L-shaped, single-storey layout. The gabled wing includes a six-light timber mullioned window, a tile-hung gable, and a carved finial. The right wing has a doorway with a commemorative datestone above it and a hipped roof with a central stack. This institute was constructed to celebrate Queen Victoria's jubilee.
