Description

The lychgate at the Church of St. George was erected in 1885 by Thomas Ferns Handford Fern Lee Hyde. It features hammer-dressed stone walls that support a slate roof held up by timber posts. The structure has octagonal stone piers that reflect the design of the church, supporting timber corner posts that carry the hipped roof, which is enhanced by curved diagonal braces. The ridge tiles are pierced, adorned with small finials, and topped with a central wrought iron cross. This lychgate is included for its group value with the church.
